Will be interesting to see what extras, if any, will be included. The laserdisc and the DVD were pretty much barebones in that regard.

I am thrilled to see this coming to blu-ray! I know, I know -- many people love to bash this movie, but I have always enjoyed it. It's campy and it's fun; it has some great visuals and some of the best Beatles cover songs in any movie.

Hopefully, they can tap Peter Frampton and Barry Gibb for a word or two on making the movie. (Sadly, Robin and Maurice Gibb are gone.) I'd also like to see a bit on Robert Stigwood who produced (and died recently). In the late 70s and early 80s, Stigwood was a god - best-selling record company, movie producer, and general mogul.

This movie has such a poor reputation, unfortunately, I'm surprised it's getting a blu-ray release.
But it's great news---I've always loved it! It features some of the only Beatles-covers that I can actually enjoy listening to.

I think time will treat it kindly, though.

It's far from good but it's never boring and it's a real time capsule of the era in which it was made. I consider it one of those films that I can point to and just say, "Cocaine is responsible for this." I love it. I owned the double album when it was released and bought it again when it was released on CD.

^ This is the reason we need a serious, authoritative making of- documentary.

Am I the only one wishing that Shout! could get an extension on their licence from Uni on this title, allowing it to be adapted for a future MST3K episode? The 'bots would be in tears.

This was one of the last films, and probably the last musical, to be at least partially filmed (exteriors only) on MGM's Culver City backlot before it was destroyed.

I'm in full agreement with you regarding this, Stephen! That would be too hilarious!!
This movie is OK, but it's not as good as Can't Stop The Music
Do you mean in terms of MST3K worthiness? ;)

Don't get me wrong! I also think that both films should get the proper Blu-ray treatment in their originally released form, as SGT. PEPPER presumably already has.

CHEERS! :)

I'm in.

Saw this movie a few times at the movies when it came out.

I still have the double gatefold album, I still don't own any version of the Beetles Pepper. Never Will.

Doubt very very much this bluray will have any extra features.

Now can we get a bluray of Corvette Summer?
