Watched this film last night. The 3D disc cost 12 bucks, so what the heck.....
The story was predictably stupid, with the Rock somehow being able to commandeer an LAFD helicopter for his personal use in rescuing his family. He had really understanding supervisors in that not once did any of them call and ask something like this:
Dispatch: "Where the Hell are you? The city just got hit by a massive quake and we need you and that helicopter now!"
The Rock: " Well, boss, I just rescued my wife and now I am halfway to San Francisco to rescue my daughter. As soon as I'm done I'll get back to that whole...you know....rescue pilot job thingy that you hired me to do."
Dispatch: "Ohh, that's all right then...carry on with your personal rescue mission. Try not to wreck our helicopter".
The Rock: "Uhhh, about that whole don't wreck the chopper thing........"
Dispatch: Yeaaahhh......??
The Rock: "Too late."
Outside of the ridiculousness of the story, the actual earthquake VFX were done well and the soundtrack was a monster. I was starting to worry that something might fall off a wall with all of the shaking going on.
