Recommendations on 5.1 home theatre systems (1 Viewer)

I am interested in purchasing a new 5.1 or 7.1 home theatre system. The only company I am familiar with is Yamaha as I have an older receiver unit from them. What other units can people recommend? Any reason to stay away from Yamaha or go with the company I am happy with? Your help would be greatly appreciated.

There are numerous products out there like Yamaha: Denon, Sony, Marantz, Onkyo just to name a few. Dollar for dollar the performance of equipment from these manufacturers is very close and very good these days. You will find many people have a "favorite" equipment manufacturer, but the differences overall are not tremendous. I happen to have a Marantx SR-14EX (incredible 5.1 audio/video receiver) that I am about to sell. It would be an awesome start to a very nice theater. Let me know if you would like more details.
