why is the abbreviation GCN rather than just GC? If the N was for Nintendo, wouldnt it make sense for it to be NGC?

I believe it's called the GCN because NGC is already tradmarked by another company.

AGB is GameBoy Advance's acronym in Japan, but its GBA in America.

NGC might end up sounding like Neo-Geo Color (even though its Neo-Geo Pocket Color) and might even be the GameCube acronym in Japan (I'm not sure, though).

Nonetheless, its GCN.
