I have a bookshelf stereo CD changer I have hooked up to my receiver. The problem is when I turn on the receiver and and the stereo, a constant humming noise radiates from the speakers.

Do I have something hooked up wrong? I used the standard coaxial cables (the ones with red and white).

Thanks!

Tom,

Disconnect the changer from the receiver. If the noise goes away, you’ve found your problem.

Actually, those bookshelf systems are of questionable quality and not really designed to be used with a “real” (i.e., component) system.

If you have it sitting on or within a foot or two of a tv, the tv can induce a hum if the tv is on.
