I'm looking at the new 1803 and 2802 for my new receiver, but I'm not sure what these will offer for picture quality for my progressive sources. I have a Xbox and a Panasonic CP-72 running to my Hitachi 32UDX10S, but I need a receiver to do the component switching as this TV only has one component input.

For current, and past, Denon owners: how is the picture quality running through the receiver, compared to straight to the TV?

I've heard the Denon softens the picture... is this true?

Jon:

I'm using my Denon 3802 for component switching of my HDSTB and PS dvd player without any noticable picture quality loss.

John,

The 27Mhz is plenty for 480i & 480p sources. There will be no picture loss. The only time the picture would become slightly soft is with HDTV 1080i sources.

Then I guess the question is, when will 1080i come to a set near me. I doubt Adelphia is rushing to include HD programming in Maine, and even a softened 1080i picture kicks the hell out of the analog crap Adelphia is giving me.

Maybe the 2802 is the answer then...
