Hello,

I have a Pioneer Elite VSX-56TXi receiver that is having some problems. It freezes and cannot be turned off until I unplug it. Then, the standby light doesn't turn on when I plug it in. I can only get it to turn on after leaving it unplugged for several hours. Also, when it freezes, it keeps playing audio. If anyone knows of a fix, or which component could be faulty, please let me know.

Thanks

Is it possible to reset the receiver after it's been unplugged for a while?

1 Switch the receiver into standby.
2 While holding down the front panel TONE
button, press and hold
STANDBY/ON for about
three seconds.
The display shows
RESET?
.
3 Press the front panel TONE– button.
The display shows
OK?
.
4 Within 5 seconds, press TONE+.
The display shows
OK
and the receiver should now be
reset

Hello Edwin, I also have the VSX-56TXi that is having the exact same freezing issue. Were you able to get the issue resolved? What components did you replace or repair process did you use?

I found several bad capacitors on the main control board and replaced them. The capacitors I replaced are circled below:

I think the most important capacitor to replace is the disc-shaped one here:

This was my favorite/best receiver i ever owned. great amps and awesome Pioneer sound. If it had HDMI it would be a receiver to be reckoned with today
