PAL on NTSC television (1 Viewer)

I just purchased on of those cheap APEX DVD players so I can watch some Region 0 titles which are in PAL mode (among other things).

Since I don't have any of these disc yet to test my question is...

Will the player convert the movie so it will play normally on my NTSC TV or will it not work since my TV is not PAL compatible?

Apex players will convert, they just don't do it that well. The image will be squished vertically
