OK- so is "JUDE" anamorphic or not? (1 Viewer)

the mid 90's Kate Winslet film from the Thomas Hardy book.
i did a search on this , but thread kind of ended inconclusively.
in addition i've read several online reviews that have stated its anamorphic (despite the absence of any indication on the package, and at least one person saying it isn't.
so whats the deal?
and in just in general, how is the picture quality?

i've had a copy for a couple of months now, but i haven't opened it and if its not worthwile, i'm going to try to exchange it this week.

Well, it's not anamorphic (at least my copy isn't) which is a shame because the beautiful widescreen (1:2.35) image more than deserves the higher picture resolution of anamorphic transfers. On the other hand one can't deny the fact that Kate Winslet seldom looked and acted better than in this movie.

that is a shame. was loking forward to seeing this, but i think i'll just return it today.
never seen it before, but the size of my display makes non-anamorphic wide material a pain.
might as well just rent out a video tape.
