This made my day!

"My father wove a tapestry of obscenity, that as far as we know, is still hanging in space over Lake Michigan."

The official WHV e-mail with the cover art for this and Christmas Vacation stated that there will be a cast & crew commentary. So it's no longer rumor.

Talk about deja vu. Just this morning, I posted a topic wondering if Warner would ever release a widescreen version of this film, and lo and behold, thanks to Doug Irving who directed me to this thread, it's COMING!!!!!

I'm a huge fan of this movie and can't wait until October 7th. With "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation" in widescreen being released on the same day, I'll definitely be first in line at my local video store to pick these gems up!

I'm just glad Warner Brothers are finally re-releasing many of their movies in widescreen! All I can say is it's about time. Better late than never!

You are all dorks...

But to say that this announcement didn't put a GIGANTIC smile on my face would be to say I am not a dork as well.

Wonderful announcement. But I think, unless there is a major loss leader on this one, I'll hold off until Mid-December. My pocketbook is already weeping about September.

Jeff, this site has the t-shirt Gordon linked you to, plus one other one. No images, unfortunately.

It's pretty amazing that those figures are being made. They even got the lamp! It looks like the Ralphie one, at least, has sound clips. Don't know if I'd get 'em, but it's amusing to know they're going to be out there.

I think the answer lies in the first post:

"Anamorphic (1.85:1) and fullscreen transfers."

Disc 1: "family friendly full frame" + some extras
Disc 2: "shut up the home theater freak whiners anamorphic widescreen" + commentary + (more extras?)

Definite must buy for me. I can finally retire my VHS!
