    Here is my DVD Collection.

    http://www.dvdaficionado.com/dvds.html?cat=1&id=mrjay's

Looking for advice on other choices I should look into? I am pretty open. Favorite Genres include Action and Horror. Comedy as well.

Also interested in pretty much any other genre as well. Decades are pretty much open.

Just looking for items I may not have thought of that I might enjoy.

For comedy, off the top of my head, how about "Kentucky Fried Movie" (by the same people who made Airplane), "Blazing Saddles", "The Groove Tube".

I'd recommend some more Billy Wilder. You've already got Double Indemnity and Sunset Blvd., but he did many other great movies that are out on dvd including:

    The Apartment
    Some Like It Hot
    Stalag 17
    The Seven Year Itch
    Witness for the Prosecution
    Sabrina
    The Fortune Cookie
    Irma La Douce
    Kiss Me, Stupid

I saw DR. STRANGELOVE and THE SHINING on your list. You may also be interested in LOLITA, CLOCKWORK ORANGE, or 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY (also directed by Kubrick). If you are interested in more Peter Sellers, try THE PARTY or BEING THERE.

I noticed AKIRA and PERFECT BLUE on your list, as well as a few more anime titles. You will probably enjoy PARANOIA AGENT, by the director of PERFECT BLUE (it is the best anime series I have seen in a long time). You may also enjoy the series COWBOY BEBOP and SAMURAI CHAMPLOO or the films MILLENNIUM ACTRESS or TOKYO GODFATHERS.

If you like BUFFY and sci-fi, you should give FIREFLY a try.

I saw a few oddball/weird films on your list. I would recommend SCHIZOPOLIS, Steven Soderberg's greatest film. Rent or Netflix it first, if you're not sure. Also, you may enjoy MEMENTO.

Your list includes lots of superheroes, including SUPERMAN: THE MOVIE, but SUPERMAN II, SPIDER-MAN 1 and 2, and X-MEN 1 were absent. You should give the Fleischer SUPERMAN CARTOONS (DIAMOND EDITION) a place in your collection. Also, if you liked GHOST WORLD, you may want to try CRUMB, FROM HELL, ROAD TO PERDITION, and AMERICAN SPLENDOR, all of which are excellent non-superhero comic book movies.

Since you are a gangster fan (GOODFELLAS, SOPRANOS, etc.) you may want to give CRIME STORY a try. The 2nd and final season was just released.

Also, you had several MONTY PYTHON films, but nowhere did I see MONTY PYTHON'S FLYING CIRCUS or FAWLTY TOWERS on your list.

Quite a huge collection (double the size of mine) but you're lacking in the foreign film department.

I'd recommend some more Kurosawa titles (Rashomon, The Hidden Fortress, Kagemusha, Ikiru, Red Beard), Tokyo Story, A Story of Floating Weeds/Floating Weeds, The Rules of the Game, La Dolce Vita.

I've recently revisited John Woo's Honk Kong films so I've got his work on the brain. I noticed you've got Face/Off but I'd recommend these as well: A Better Tomorrow I & II, The Killer, Hard Boiled, Bullet In The Head.

I think that you should get (from looking at your collection and wish list)...

The Simpsons (Seasons 1 to 4)
Although I have yet to pick up Season 2, these seasons are, as Disney would dub them if they owned them, animated classics.

Walt Disney Treasures: On the Front Lines
You may have to go on Amazon or another online store to get this (as it's a limited set), but this is a must have. It's a compilation of Disney war propaganda, and for that reason, is really interesting to watch.

    Bambi: Special Edition
This is an animated classic and the DVD is just as good, with a lovely restored picture and interesting bonus features. Plus, Disney titles like this go in the vault a year after they come out...

    Mulan: Special Edition
Ditto what I said about Bambi.

    Mary Poppins: 40th Anniversary Edition
This is a classic Disney musical that can be used as a tool to say that Disney films aren't just for kids. Plus, restored to a beautiful state and with charming bonuses, you need this.

    The Adventures of Robin Hood
Not perfect, but a fun film nonetheless. The bonus features are also pretty cool. I liked the documentary on Technicolor, the Looney Tunes shorts themed to Robin Hood and the Night at the Movies feature.

I didn't read your entire list (no time) but from what was said, it seems you should really consider Takashi Miike. He's a damn good Japanese director who excels in horror. I'd definately recommend Audition and although not really horror, Ichi the Killer is a gory and very well made action film. I'm just starting to dive into his works now.

From a quick glance your collection seems rather varied. Continue to buy based on what you like, & not what other people like. I've not let anyone influence my nearly 1300 purchases!

    Jeff,

Believe me, I know. I used to blind buy in the late 90's. I have since stopped. I have the kind of taste that widely varies and is sometimes kind of random and even sometimes strange. I myself never even know what I will end up liking. I was disappointed more times than not with blind buying. Ending up getting rid of them and stopping that completely.

I was just looking for items to watch. I almost always rent first now (unless it's a tv show I know I like). Netflix is awesome. I just didn't have any ideas on what to watch which is why I started this thread.

Anyways, thank you guys for your help. I will check out several in the next week or so.
