Hey guys I was just curious about sound quality as far as mp3 players go. Would the sound quality improve if an mp3 player had a 1/8" stereo jack? Is there mp3 players out there that have a larger jack to put out better quality sound? On the actual mp3 player (yes I know headphones are like 90% of sound quality) what are the key elements of good sound output, and what type of mp3 players have these?

Thanks a ton
Eric

I haven't seen any MP3 player that didn't have a mini-jack. Jack size doesn't really matter, as long as there's a good connection - look at the bandwidth you get through an RJ-45 cable! Or DSL through an RJ-11!

The headphones are important, but another important bit is what is behind the jack?

I've heard a lot about inferior head-phone drivers (miniature amplifiers, in essence.) And I'd not be surprised if some of these units had crap D->A converters, too.

But, I don't know how to go about finding one that has a decent output stage...
