Not sure if this belongs here, but it's another format type. Anyways I was watching CNBC and they had a story about the studios starting a digital delivery system for movies online. It's the 5 major studios and the site is called movielink all that is there now are the press releases. Has anyone heard anymore about this? Just curious.

The problem with this is that we have yet to discover a compression scheme that gives a decent-looking picture at a size that affords fast downloads. On even the fastest network connections available currently, it takes longer than it would take to watch the film to download it. Most people with broadband connections don't even have nearly that speed. I just don't see this as a viable option for the time being.
