Hi,

I looked at Onkyo HT-S760 system over the weekend. The font speakers seem rather large, since i am planning on putting them into the faimily room (19 x 17 x (20 ft high)).

Was wondering what you people though of the following combinations

*Onkyo A/R TX-SR501 with Harmon Kardon HKTS12 speakers
OR
*Onkyo A/R TX-SR501 with polk audio RM6005 speakers
*Onkyo A/R TX-SR501 with klipsch Quintet II speakers
Thanks for your time.
Regards,
Saurabh

Hello Saurabh.

Well, names like Onkyo, Yamaha, HK make good electronics. But speakers ... different story.

These are usually generic/cheap speakers made by some other company so the real company can put their name on them to sell a 'system'.

Note 1: you dont need audiophile-grade ($$$) speakers to get a great movie experience. Less-accurate speakers properly setup work very well.

For the speaker issues alone, I'd pick the setup with the Polk Audio speakers.

Note 2: Tastes in speakers are like tastes in ice-cream. Just because someone really, really likes brand X speakers does not mean you will like it as well. You may prefer another flavor. Listen for yourself and decide what speakers are to your tastes.

Good Luck.
