I am stuck. Rented the double DVD, no time to watch both, which to watch? I have heard House was the one released in theatres but I heard Lisa was the one originally intended. Which is better? Which to watch first?

HELP!

Watch LISA AND THE DEVIL first as that is Mario Bava's original version. It's WAY better than HOUSE OF EXORCISM and makes better sense (though some people actually felt otherwise). Then see HOUSE and see how LISA is butchered by the producer to cash in on the Exorcist wave after LISA failed to find a distributor after 2 years. It's just as fascinating, funny, boneheaded as the studio cut of BRAZIL. If you have time, check out the producer Alfredo Leone's commentary to see how he comes up "good" reasons and weak defenses of the inserted sex and silliness.

Hope this helps!

I agree with the above, though HOUSE actually features the better transfer or the two. Bit of a shame, that.

Whatever, keep your eyes out for Image's proper KILL BABY KILL remaster, currently scheduled to round off Image's Mario Bava Collection this Halloween (if it doesn't get delayed yet again)...
