I know this is just plain wrong to think this but it is hard not to...

This is such a bad film with what I can only imagine is a tiny fan base that releasing it at all seems odd but releasing it now seems to be specifically because Cosby has been in the news for a while...and as we all know not in a good way. So, this really seems to be a move to get this film out specifically because they want to take advantage of his bad press.

I guess they could claim they have been planning this release for a while but Cosby has been in the news for his putrid behavior for a long while now.

My advice is avoid this and go purchase Hickey and Boggs instead. It is a very good Walter Hill scripted color noir with a solid and interesting performance from Cosby that is a very long way from his TV dad...and really he is a very long way away from his TV dad right now.

Yeah, I'd love to meet the folks who actually think this is a good movie, let alone PAY to own it and re-watch it!

True story, the movie was made/owned by Coke who intended it to be a giant commercial for their product so they hired a television commercial director to shoot it and make sure he got Coke product placement all over it.

So this film is literally a 90 minute Coca-Cola commercial. Even Cosby badmouthed it.

If you actually do your research (and by that, I mean don't listen to anything the likes of Don Lemon, Judd Apatow, or Gloria Allred say), you'll know that a lot of his accusers have already been proven liars. But the media won't talk about that. And also that a lot of his accusers have questionable pasts. But again, the media will not talk about that. They have so much investment in this case, that admitting they were wrong, will get all that egg on their face.

Bottom line: The media will NEVER say they were wrong.

I guess they figure if they are EVER going to release it (but as others have already noted...of ALL the films which need an HD release, we get THIS one?) there might be no better time--ever.

But it's not even one of those classically bad films to develop a cult status (so bad that it's so good). I can't imagine it's going to sell very many copies. Just can't imagine it.

So strange.

Loved Ebert's rant.

Mill Creek is a class act. First they cashed in on the deaths of Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds but fast tracking Postcards From The Edge and now they're releasing a movie starring an alleged serial rapist.

I've not heard anything from Lemon, Apatow, and Allred...only from Cosby himself and it was not pretty.
I live in suburban Philadelphia and the 'real' Cosby has been well known around here for probably 15 years. I figured the world had buried its head in the sand about it all so I was happy to see his legacy be destroyed over the last couple of years.
