What I love about both the films on Blu-ray disc is that the permanent & optional subtitles are inside the 2.40:1 frame structure
, which was the directors intent for the theatrical presentation.
The subtitles never enter the "black bar" area which I automatically mask for different aspect ratios to give superior contrast perception on my 16x9 110" screen. Also, people with constant hight setups will at last, be able to read them!
*Edit: A future optional Blu-ray "preference" implementation to move subtitles both in and out of the black-bar area would be ideal to satisfy everyone's system which as I understand it, HD DVD had the ability to do.
