Kenwood HTB-505 vs Onkyo S650 (1 Viewer)

A friend of mine is considering the purchase of either the Kenwood HTB-505 or Onkyo S650 Home Theater in a Box. Has anybody compared these two systems side-by-side? Which system has the better speakers and/or subwoofer? We have read many reviews of these systems and for the most part, both systems get good reviews. What is your preference? Thanks.

Both are very capable HTiB system's. I started out with the Ken 504 and was quit impressed. The Onkyo was not out at the time. If I was to make the same decision today I would go with the 650 Onkyo over the Ken 505. These would be the only two I would consider. A very short list. The sub on the Onkyo is 150 watts versus a 100 watts and the speakers are a little better imo. Others have compared and have went with the 650. I think most would consider the 650 the new best bang for the dollar HTiB this last year or so?

With those models you will need a seperate dvd player. If you go with the kenwood dvt 505 the DVD player is included.
