I've heard that many times, and it's a fitting comparison. Did Stewart ever play a bad guy?

Yes he did. But I'm loathe to say more about it because

Tom Hanks can play anything he wants.

If he's more interested in playing good guys, that's his personal choice. It's not like he has to play anything offered to him; he is obviously financially well-off enough to choose his projects.

But I think he is very capable of playing any role he likes. He's that good.
