Is this a good price for a Kenwood Receiver? (1 Viewer)

I currently have a STR-DE345 Sony Receiver, which is the lowest of the low-end Sony receivers from what I understand. I've been looking for a Dolby Digital receiver, and because I don't have a credit card and live in Canada (otherwise I'd browse at online stores), I posted a wanted add on a local classified site. I got a reply for
a 2 year old Kenwood Receiver
Here, if my coding works right
He's said he paid $550 for it and is selling it for $250.
I need to know if this is a good deal, considering that I have limited funds (student) and cannot order order online because I do not have a credit card and live in Canada (exchange rate, plus shipping)
Thanks.

That seems pretty high. Here in the States, it was selling for around $200 to $250 new. I know the import tax is high, but the price you're getting still sounds unreasonable.

Andrew, Welcome to the HTF!
Considering you live in Canada, I'm not sure if this receiver is worth that or not, but.........
First, I like Kenwood but this 307 you are looking at does not have dts, If it's in good shape it will sound good for what it is, but it's outdated and I would hesitate to get it.
Try to find something with dts and PL2 like the Kenwood VR-507(the upgrade from the 307).
Save up if you have to, you will be happy you did.
Of course if your funds are limited and considering it's local also considering you live in Canada(where you usually pay more for stuff like this)and......you are not interested in dts or PL2 Then I can tell you this 307 will still be a big upgrade.

No. It is a very high price. I wouldn't suggest paying over $75US. And that would be my top.
