I see it now, it's horrible. I cleared my cookies and forgot to log in and was shocked at how messy and amateurish it looked.

Luckily logging back on reverts to how it was. I've been an IMDB member for about 10 years now. I'd hate to see it change into something like that.

I haven't been on the IMDB in about a week and I just saw the redesign. I don't usually get that bothered by redesigns but that's just crap. I thought I was on some ad when I saw all the dumb pictures and video garbage. I'm going to IMDB to get actual information, not see pictures.

I find it rather unsettling and hard-to-use myself.

I hope they had some hard feedback on which they based the move (not change for change's sake). I guess I could see them responding to what users are telling them they like best about the site (pictures, etc.).

And I could also see where users--who also happen to be members of an HT website--would hate the changes because we would go there looking for very specific information about the cast, crew & productions. And that sort of information has been treated secondarily in the new scheme.

Secondarily. Yes, indeed. Which is especially lovely, considering that that hardcore information is what the whole site was founded on. (Was it not? Correct me if I'm wrong.)

If that's what the majority of their readers want then so be it (even if I think it's terrible idea). However, I imagine that the average internet user that wants to see a picture of an actor goes to Google before the IMDB.

In the end, as long as they keep the good version available, they can put up all the pictures, Tweets, Facebook links, You Tube videos or gossip that they want.

I have been kicking around on this mudball for some time now, and I have come to one conclusion, well, many, but the one that seems apropo for this thread is that sometimes change is not good. Inevitable, yes, but not all of it, however, is for the good, (cue the dramatic crescendo).

I hate having a reason to resurrect this thread, but how about the new "background" or "all-border" ads surrounding many pages of IMDb content now? When I search something and the next page comes up... well, the first couple of times it happened I thought I'd reached some porn site in error -- it is that obnoxious. Checked my account settings and nothing had changed. I still get the "legacy" page layouts, but this new development seriously compromises even that by totally cheapening the appearance and, consequently, the experience of using the site. Disgusting.
