Thanks for doing that list Travis. 3 major players that fail to play the S1 set is a pretty large number!

It would be interesting to see what Image would say if they'd even acknowledge it.

Well that's a first. Most of the reports of failure have been centered around disc 4, not 2.

TravisR: my Br-Rom drive is an HP BDDVDRW CT21L. I guess I should have mentioned that earlier.

This is ridiculous. I want to buy the goddamned thing. The money is right here, waiting for you, Image.

Travis - I have the BDP-S570 and the set works fine. I'm the one who wrote post 49. You put me on the wrong list. ha. I did write "it might be a firmware issue", in reference to some posts above #49.

I've played each disc of Season 1 through completely, and disc 4 I played through twice. No problems.

I was poster #50 - you have me posted as "not working" but my message stated that it was playing without any problems. It's the Sony 350.

^ Corrected that one too.

I'm going to go back through the thread and double check everything to make sure that the list is right. Clearly I have lots of free time but it takes a while so give me some time.

OK, I went back through the thread and it should be set now. This time, I listed multiple reports about the same player when they're from different people.

TravisR,

Great list.

I note that I am one of the people who's player is on both the "working" and "not working" lists. I have a BDP-S350 which is not working. However, the indvidual at post #50, ajabrams, has a "sony 350" which is working.

I note that ajabrams has not indicated whether or not his player has the latest firmware update. I do have the latest firmware update and perhaps that is the problem.

It would be interesting to see if the firmware updates are actually causing the problem, or at least contributing to it.

Good point Matt. I recall one person who posted that his player still has the original factory firmware and his player did play the set fine. Without going through the list now, I have a recollection of it being a Sony S300.

But it would be better if an up to date firmware would fix it!

You have an incredible memory. In post 104, Craig Beam said:

This is a first-generation player WITHOUT the latest firmware (which is 5.50, dated 10/14/10), and all 3 copies of disc 4 (and the other discs in the set) loaded quickly and played without incident. I was floored.

Just out of curiosity, has anybody examined the discs themselves for evidence of any unusual markings that seem out of the ordinary? In my case, discs 3 and 4 won't load. Upon examining them closely, I've noted some unusual serrations on the extreme outer edge on the inside of these discs which aren't as prominent on the discs that do load. I wonder if anybody else has noticed this as well.

I have a Magnavox MBP5120F and it does not play. I would not put Magnavox on the working list.

The Sony BDP-S300 in my daughter's room doesn't have the original factory firmware. The firmware was last updated about a year ago, but I don't know offhand what the revision number is. I can check tonight.

The part in your post, Craig, that stuck in my head was that it didn't have current firmware. I seemed to interpret that it meant it never had been updated and still with the original firmware.

Trevor,

Congrates on your impending replacement discs!

So now we have to learn how to get on this list!

Hi, I am coming back to the HTF after a self-imposed exile (after being a member for 12 years now) in the hopes that I can help others with The Twilight Zone Blu-Ray Replacement Saga. I emailed IMAGE this evening and have already heard back. They were very gracious, apologized for the problems, and asked for my mailing address so that they can send a replacement out ASAP. Oh, and they wished me a wonderful weekend! Hope this helps others. And it's good to be back.
