How Many Sets Did You Get In '05? (1 Viewer)

The topic is self-explanatory. How many TV-DVD sets did you purchase/receive in 2005? Also, how did it compare to previous years?

I'll be the first to answer. In 2005, I purchased/received a whopping 45 sets. By comparison, in 2004, I purchased/received 16 sets, and in 2003, i purchased/received 11 sets. The biggest reason for the surge was the purchasing of four new series on DVD (for me): three seasons of Monk, four seasons of 24, four volumes of Batman: The Animated Series, and five seasons of The West Wing.

Uh, this is a VERY revealing thread I never realized that this is what I bought in '05 (ordering online from 2 outlets made it easy to tally it up)

38 sets. In this case, I counted all of the Combat! packs as 1 set/series, and the same with the "Rifleman" sets.

The count includes 2 miniseries and 2 "megasets" (Dick Van Dyke complete set, and the Secret Agent set)

Included were 2 PAL R2 sets, "Rich Man, Poor Man Bk 1" and "Bionic Woman" from Amazon UK

When I get more time, I'll list the series (watching the NFL playoff game at present )

Holy---! You guys are right. It's surprising once you've added them all up. I counted close to 50 boxes (mostly animation and sci-fi, plus Seinfeld), plus all the Farscape Starburst sets. (To be honset, though, I received some of those cartoon sets as screeners for DVDtoons; but I do buy most of my stuff.) I'm anticipating cooling off quite a bit this year, but we'll see.

Lets see - I got 68 DVDs total in 2005, with 54 of them being TV shows. (This doesnt count anime - which while it did run on TV most likely, doesnt really count for our purposes).

For comparison, I got 101 DVDs last year (um, I mean the 2004 last year, and not the last year that was a week ago), 55 of them were TV shows. Looks like the studios were right - TV is taking over.
