Is the Harman Kardon AVR-525 in the same league as the Denon 3803 and Pioneer Elite 45? The Pioneer and Denon are on my short list for this weekend's demo listening and I'm wondering if I should add the HK 525. Would the upcoming AVR7200 be more in line with the Pionner and Denon?

I have the 525. My ears tell me that it sounded better in every way than the Pioneer 45, but not by a longshot. I am talking minute increments. The Pioneer is also quite good. Both have excellent features, but they are very different. Do you want superb bass management or a great internal calibration system?

As for Denon, I thought it sounded slightly better than Pioneer, but not quite as good as HK. Again, though, I am talking very small differences. All three AVRs are excellent.

HK is warm at the low end and cystal clear at the high end. Very nicely balanced.
