I have a Sony SA-W305 sub. I want to set it up correctly. My cut freq. on my sub goes from 50hz-200hz. I have a Yamaha RXV-495 DD 5.1 reciever. It appears that the FC is 90hz. I've read the manual and i cannot ajust this. I can ajust the output level of the LFE channel,-20db to 0db. I want to know what i should set my cut freq on my sub so i get the best results, and what to set the output of the LFE at.
My reciever specs are as follows.
Filter Characteristics
Main L/R,Rear L/R,(speaker:small)
H.P.F..........fc=90hz, 12db/oct
Subwoofer
L.P.F..........fc=90hz, 18db/oct
......and i do have all my speakers set to small.

Turn the sub crossover frequency to 200 Hz (ie, eliminate it). Your reciever takes care of the crossover.

You will need to calibrate subwoofer level/LFE using a sound pressure level meter.
