HDTV 1080 Question? (1 Viewer)

I have a Mitsubishi VS-50803 HDTV. It says that it is a 1080 Diamond Series. I am finally getting a Cox Cable HDTV box next month. They say it is only compatible with a 1080i series HDTV. Is 1080 and 1080i the same?

Yes, they are the same.

In theory, there could be either 1080i (interlaced) or 1080p (progressive-scan) but the only one that currently exists is 1080i.
