I bothered to look through all the messages, and didn't see this pairing:

The Manchurian Candidate, and Dr. Strangelove

National Velvet and The Black Stallion
Am I the only one who thinks the link between these two is creepy? (RE: Mickey Rooney's roles, coupled with the date the books were released, NV in 1935 and BS in 41; there's also a scene in NV where Rooney tells a story remarkably like that of BS...)

If my wife was choosing, it would be:
The Five Heartbeats and the Temptations
Love and Basketball and Brothers

For me,
Blade and Blade 2 (if I can get an early release copy)
Tomb Raider and Resident Evil (eye and ear candy I guess)
Dante's Peak and Volcano

Thanks. It works really well, everyone should try it! Watch Pinocchio first, because
when you see some of Gepetto's clocks in JF Sebastian's apartment, everything totally falls into place.
If you plan on running that double bill, don't read the spoiler! That observation took my breath away when I ran them back to back.
If you need some convincing, read it. It isn't a plot spoiler. :)

Oh, and how about Rollerball (original) and North Dallas Forty

I also see a VERY strong connection between Waking Life and Muholland Drive, but to not spoil them I won't mention here.

Let me add that there have been some really good, interesting pairings put up. Definately some I will pursue.

I think pairing up movies the same director or actors is ussually a good comparision, or certainly similar genres will work.
A couple good ones I can think of off hand are,
Lock stock and two smoking barrels with Snatch
or any combo of these with each other, truman show, dark city, matrix, eXistanZ, the 13th floor.
hmmm what else.... maybe like das boot with U-571
ummm...cant think of any more right now, but this type of thing always comes to my mind. :)
