An 'R'-rated movie would be an 'M'-rated video game, whereas an 'AO'-rated game would be the equivalent of an X-rated movie (at least in retailers' eyes). Almost every major retailer in the US belong to the IEMA (Interactive Entertainment Merchants Association); although not a written policy, IEMA members generally do not stock 'AO' titles.

Anyone who has seen the unrated version of Team America: World Police and/or the NC-17 version of The Dreamers will have a fair idea as to what they can expect to see in the "hot coffee" mod, only in poorly-detailed, pixelated form. I have seen snapshots and video of the in-game mod and, while I don't disagree with the reassigned rating, I don't believe it should be perceived or treated as X-rated material; the mod contains, at worst, NC-17 material.

Woman sues video game manufacturer

Perhaps she should sue herself instead. She bought the game for her 14 year old grandson.

Can someone please explain the controversy for me? When the game was rated 17+ it was considered perfectly OK but now that it's rated 18+, it is suddenly totally unacceptable. The difference in maturity levels between the average 17 year old and the average 18 year old is about as big as the difference in the level of intelligence of a slug and an earthworm.

I think the weather is hot enough to serve up another five-scoop rolling-eyeball sundae with whipped cream and hot fudge hot coffee on top and a maraschino cherry: :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes

Being serious, there are so many FAR more pressing issues in the world than this....:rolleyes::rolleyes

What total horsepucky!!

As a grandparent myself, I'm embarassed that this "lady" is a member of my "fraternity." Give me a break! She purchased a game originally rated M (for 17+) for her 14 year old grandkid? What was she thinking?!? The blame is entirely hers, not the company's. I'd never get this game for my grandkids at that age and if I even thought about it I'd ask the parents first. Grandma's motives are VERY suspect! This isn't about hidden sex scenes.

Methinks she could use a little of the old in-and-out herself to remove that giant bug that's definitely up her butt! And make sure to use the UP/DOWN control in cadence to increase your EXCITEMENT score after you have that cup of hot coffee with her!

You know, as I was playing San Andreas last night, I got to thinking that of all the activities in the game, the only one I'd hope that most of the kids playing it end up doing in real life is having sex.

Still, even if the grandmother had no idea what the game was about, you'd think with a title like "grand theft auto" she'd have some idea about what's in there...

When did "M" (or an "R" for movies) become so toothless?

Found one last copy here in Sac for Xbox. Was holding out due to other games etc but figured Id get it now instead of waiting for the mess to clear up. (Could care less about the codes).

Where the hell is the body armor? Cant find it anywhere!

And what the hell is this crap about the game getting pulled anyway? Best Buy and Circuit City carry Showgirls which is a NC17 film when they wont carry San Andreas?!

That lawsuit is absoultely ridiculous. So murdering civilians and cops is fine, but consensual sex is bad?

BTW, I finally beat San Andreas tonight. :D

It's funny how distracted you can get in this game. On Friday, I finished the "Doberman" mission, and could start inciting gang wars and taking over turf. This means that I spent the entire weekend taking over every piece of territory in the city. Only afterwards do I figure out that you could recruit others to help you (I did it all by myself, mostly with the AK47 and dual Tec-9s).

One thing I've been trying to figure out though is the cop missions. In GTA3 and Vice, I was able to finish these with a tank, which was easy enough to get by just killing cops/blowing up cop vehicles until the army showed up-then snatch the tank, and then get the hell into your garage. I just can't get beyond 4 stars though, no matter how many helicopters and enforcers I destroy. Is there a limit to how high a wanted level you can get this early in the game?

That's really the funny part about it all isn't it. You can walk around in the game, kill/murder/firebomb everything and everybody in sight, shoot people's heads/limbs off, etc. That's all ok for this kid, yet watching a little soft porn action is suddenly a moral outrage?

So resurrecting another old thread here, since I finally finished San Andreas over the weekend, and I have to ask-was anyone else as disappointed by the end of the game as I was (I'll spoilerize things to keep it sefe)?

The whole time, you're progressing through missions and making it big, and making more and more money, but in the end you end up doing the same crap as in the beginning. I know that this is sort of the "point" the story is trying to make, but it just seemed really anticlimatic. I was also really pissed off that all the time I spent finishing all of the gang wars in Los Santos the first time was a waste.

While I liked the variety that the game offered, I also found that the game was just way too big in some ways. There was far too much space between the cities, which meant a LOT of driving from area to area. I also found in trying to do three cities, none of them were fleshed out too well. In GTA3, you got a feel for how all of liberty city worked, with all the different gangs etc. Not near as much in San Andreas. I was especially disappointed with Venturas, although the casino heist
missions were pretty cool...

Anyhow, I'm really hoping for something more from whatever the next GTA game will be. This one was good, but not as great as the others. Maybe it's the "been there, done that" factor?
