Uh... when exactly is "the time of color"? Considering that the first full-color feature film came out in 1935, it's a very long period.

My guess is that the "time of color" is any time from 1967 on, since that was the first year when the studios pretty much stopped making b&w films, with rare exceptions like IN COLD BLOOD. 1966 still had a number of major b&w films, e.g. Billy Wilder's THE FORTUNE COOKIE and Mike Nichols' WHO'S AFRAID OF VIRGINIA WOOLF. So, to me, the OP leads me to think of films like THE LAST PICTURE SHOW, PAPER MOON, YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN, SHE'S GOTTA HAVE IT, SCHINDLER'S LIST, DEAD MAN, et al. Which is my favorite? I don't know. Probably something I can't think of right now.

I have 3 that come to mind:

Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid (1982)

These were pre-1967 so not sure if they're intended for this thread:

12 Angry Men (1957)

Lilies of the Field (1963)

Yes, 67. (Although, wasn't sure exact from 66-69)Although they kept decreasing after Oz.Essentially, any B&W that when made it was an odd and curious choice to have done so...Schindler is too depressing for this weekend...

None of these are obscure by any means, and I'm uncertain if they fit the criteria of 'odd and curious choice' but I'll mention these three.

If you want color and b&w... Memento
One of the best film of the '80s... Raging Bull
A film that was aided immensely by its stark black and white cinematography... Sin City

It's not really a "film", but the DVD of the live TV broadcast version from 2000 of FAIL SAFE is black & white. I guess it was done to mimic the motion picture.
