entry level home theatre system. recommendations? (1 Viewer)

hi there

i'm look to get a home theatre system. i'm currently a student so don't have much to spend just want something reasonable preferably with wireless rear speakers. $300-400US max.

any recommendations?

ps. sorry if a similar thread already exists couldn't find anything.

$300-400 will really only get you into HTiB (home theater in a box) territory.

I am assuming that you'll also need a DVD player, too.

Sony and Panasonic both have pretty decent systems in that price range if you don't mind the DVD player being built into the surround receiver itself (limited upgrade path). Panasonic makes wireless rear speaker kits for some of their all-in-one systems, although they'll never sound as good as hard-wired speakers and will put you overbudget.
