I finally saw this last night. After years of putting off watching this, all I have to say is wow!I used to be an Eva fan but now I'm in love. One thing I was disappointed with on the Manga disk was the audio presentation. How are the audio tracks on the Japanese rg.2 disk(would that be #7?)and on the laserdisc(if this was ever available)? What were the theatrical specs for the audio?I'm assuming that the rg.1 6.1 DTS-ES and DD 5.1-EX Japanese tracks are not how they were originally recorded.I understand that there would be no English subs I just would like a more livelier and base filled presentation.Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

The Japanese discs are non-anamorphic DD 2.0
    The LDs were PCM 2.0

There are new discs coming out, but nothing has a date

    Jeff,
Wich do you prefer, the PCM or the DD 2.0?Do they differ radically from the soundtracks on the Manga dvd(besides the multi-channel)?I noticed different sound fx for the English track on the rg.1 dvd.

they sound virtually identical, and of course Manga had to add sound FX because they aren't present on their mix
