Also of note, unless listed as a "Non-Hybrid SACD", all of the SACDs will be Hybrid discs with both an SACD and CD Audio layer for compatibility with CD Audio only players.Good news!
Too bad the later stuff will probably be DVD-A. :frowning:

Can someone recommend either a low priced SACD player or a reasonably priced Universal? I could use this as an audio only player if there's a cheap player out there that's good for audio but so-so for video. I'd like to stay in the $500 range but I'm somewhat flexible. Cheaper is better these days.Sony's (I think now discontinued) entry-level SACD player is the DVP-NS755V. There are several threads that I know of right off the top of my head on this topic (since I've contributed to a few of them), and a few more to be found I'm sure if you search. Pioneer's 563A is getting a lot of attention: it is a ~$200 universal player, the first at that kind of price point.

Pioneer DV-563A?
Sidebar: In addition to MCA itself (The Pointer Sisters, early EJ) several labels that were predisposed to licensing their evergreen titles to MoFi are now part of the UMG monster (A&M - Sting, Bryan Adams and (80s era) John Hiatt; Verve - Billie's Body and Soul and Ella and Louis Again; Mercury - lotsa goodies from pre-90s Rush to Pyromania to Scarecrow and Songs From the Big Chair). With UMG stepping up their SACD release slate, guess it's time to start thinking about what to do with many of these Ultradiscs I have. Wait until I can a/b compare? Ebay 'em individually? As a big group? (Rich, I have a MoFi GYBR if you're still interested ). But being a Rush hound, I'll probably keep the gold 2112, Signals and Moving Pictures. Anyone with a lot of Ultradisc titles now getting released on SACD have any thoughts/comments about what they're going to do?
With Rush in Rio skedded for release on September 23, it's shaping up to be an exciting fall for Rush fans.

This is huge news and will propel the format forward.
I think we will start to see more retailer acceptance as a result of this. This is a big commitment by the label.Let's be fair and balanced here. We will have to wait and see if these releases "propel" any format forward. At this point such a statement is pure speculation, especially with regards to retailer acceptance. I hope they do propel SACD forward, but bigger releases have already come to SACD and have done little to place the format in the public eye.

Two weeks ago I paid 32.00 for an MFSL CD of Yellow Brick Road on Ebay. This is truly great news.Curious coincidence - a couple of weeks ago, I *sold* my MFSL of Yellow Brick Road on ebay. [It's okay Greg, in my case it was to a fellow Brit].
I must echo the sentiment that these discs had better have the choice of stereo or multichannel. Am I the only one to find the multichannel versions interesting, but not the versions I'd usually listen to?
