EE's among us? (1 Viewer)

This is where I should have put the thread originally.

I was just curious how many fellow electrical engineers there are among us here on the HTF. A/V systems are what got me interested in engineering in the first place, and some discussions on this forum have helped me better understand what I thought I already knew pretty well!

To date I know of two EE's here, one who is a DSP engineer. There must be more, or am I not supposed to blow our cover?

Well, I'm not but my wife is. She's working on mems research at MIT. She's not into HT but she's always happy to answer any of my technical questions concerning power, cables, circuitry, etc.

Funny, the people graduating from my school now who did essentially the same degree as I did are graduating as Computer Engineers. I graduated as an Electrical Engineer-Computer and Communications option (as opposed to the traditional 'power/utility' option). They all called us "C&C's".

I did Software Engineering, but the Engineering electives I did were all Electrical. I just wish I paid more attention ;)
Cheers,

Still waiting for my grades... If I passed all of my courses this semester, then I'll be a Computer Engineer. :)

EE - 1991 Georgia Tech grad. I believe that Patrick Sun is also a EE GT grad, but he may be ME, I forget (sorry Patrick!)
The amount of information I've forgotten on EE since college is somewhere close to 99.99% :)

I'm a mechanical bod, but my old man's a sparky. I think his current 'specialist subject' is the support hardware for CCD equipment. Mine's destructive testing (unofficially :))

Gosh, HTF is overrun with a bunch of coneheads. ;)
Well, I'm a snivel (Civil Eng for those not in the know). Class of '90.

A Snivel Civil? I heard Civils called "Plummers" though (as mentioned in the Plummer's Hymn), and of course I've heard of the term Sparky (since I am one). We even had a little paper called the Sparky Times chock full of inside jokes and irreverent humor. I recall reading a snide poem about Civils in one issue... ;)

I got a Batchelor of EE at GT, but I hung around and got a MS from the IE school just because I could.

Purdue BSEE (actually went to Indy campus which is where I live).
Just got laid off by Thomson (RCA). :frowning:
Since Indy is pretty low in EE work I am planning on getting my MS in CS so I can still live in Indy and find a job.

I have a BEE from Georgia Tech also, 1979. Been working in space guidance and navigation ever since.

I have a BA in physics and an MA in applied mathematics but went on to practice as an EE for many years. Now I'm a patent attorney which uses the EE skills as well.
