just wondering what the difference is betweeen an expensive dvd player and the cheap ones. i have seen some dvd players on sale at circuit city or best buy for for under $100. in fact at the moment circuit city has them for $79.99. they say that models may vary. just wondering what the difference is between these and say ones that are $200-$300. thanks

The best analogy I can make is that of a computer processor. The cheap DVD players do not have a very "smart" or good error-correction system. Do you want a Celeron or on Pentium? Meaning, if the disc comes to a scrath (rental discs) or dirt, it will skip or freeze-up. Those with a better error-correction system will play through those defects. The new Panasonic DVDRP32k at$130 is usually my pick for an entry level player. It will play anything they put in there. My free advice is get some additional coverage. Inexpensive products are disposable. So if you want it to last longer than 3 months it's worth it. I sell this stuff every day and they are very tempermental. I purchase all my high-end audio at cost; you better believe i get extra coverage on anthing that has less than 5 years on it.
