Will DVD player prices lower as the months go by like computers? (i.e. increased features for lower prices)

They certainly seem to be headed in that direction. Just look at the prices for progressive scan players from a year ago compared to now. I am personally waiting on my order for the new Toshiba SD4700, which is a progressive scan player that also does DVD audio. It looks like it will be less than $300, which should be a great deal (unless it sucks). Other manufacturers are doing the same thing with their new models.
But sooner or later you have to stop waiting, jump in, and enjoy what's out there today
