1) progressive scan

2) 5 disc carosel (will also be used as my CD player)

would like to have in addition

1) DVD-audio

2) HDCD

3) best bass management in the player

Right now I have seen the Denon 4800 for $1,200 list

and a Marantz model for about $600 (no DVD-audio on this one)

is dvd-audio worth the extra money?

Are there other companies with 5 disc/progresssive scan models?

thoughts/ideas

Thanks in advance

I'm not sure which models meet all of your criteria but I can say if your a music fan DVD audio is worth it.

JVC XV-FA series.

-7 disc changer

-Progressive scan

-DD/DTS decoders built-in

-DVD-V/DVD-A/CD/CDR/MP3

-$330 at Crutchfield

As for bass management, I don't know of any DVD player that does that, but wouldn't it be best for the receiver to take care of that anyways?

Harman/Kardon and Kenwood are also other brands.

vin,

most receivers dont do bass management thru their 6 chanel analogue inputs (which is how dvd-a is output)

Ah, sorry about that. I'm not familiar with DVD-Audio. I just assumed the bass management was for movies. :)

Hi Bill, I have the denon 4800, It is a very nice player, I have not used the dvd audio portion yet and I am not familiar with the base managment system.
