I noticed that a DVD Player I recently bought said it featured "Dual Laser Pickup". From all my searches on the internet, all I have found is that this "enhances viewing of all formats". Whoopie. Anybody have any good information on what it really does and how it helps? Thanks!

You'll need a dual lasers or a dual-focus laser if you want to read CD-Rs/CD-RWs reliably (or even at all). CD lasers and DVD lasers are focused at different frequencies, and the comparatively low reflectivity of a burned CD makes it difficult to read with a DVD laser. Regular CDs have a higher reflectivity and are more easily read, even by "wrong" lasers.
