I watched this very well made film about the last days of the third reich. This movie was The best depiction of Hitler in a film I have seen so far. Some great actors have portrayed Hitler like Anthony Hopkins and Alec Guinness. but even their interpetation of the character were more caricature,or over the top like Robert Carlyle .Bruno Ganz's Hitler is more human, that's not to say "Humane," which I find all the more frightening. but this is not just the story of the bunker. This film is a meditation on fanaticism seen through the eyes of Hitler's secretary, and other characters in and around the bunker.I have not seen a war film as thought prevoking since the Russian film COME AND SEE.

Yes, it's a terrific film and there are in fact two threads that I know about discussing it.

I still feel this film was really not properly appreciated at the Oscars.
