I have Altec Lansing 251 speakers and I need to extend the wiring.

Is the wiring on these speakers simple speaker wires?

Could I simply cut them (say in the middle) and attach extensions of this type?

Can no one answer this one?

I really need to know, I have all this speaker wire in my house and I'm hoping I can use it for my speakers.

I don't want the one opinion of someone from RadioShack =) .

Well, I'd say maybe.... it looks like all of the connections run through the sub which is connected to the right front speaker with some sort of multi-pin cable. It's hard to see what it is exactly in the picture so I'm not sure you can buy a longer one someplace. It almost looks like a s-video cable. From there, it looks like standard rca-jacked cables leading to the other speakers. You could just buy longer RCA extension cables.. or you could go the cheap-o method and buy some RCA jacks at Radio Shack and some speaker wire and make your own. The center channel is connected with a basic 3.5mm jack.

I'm not sure if the cables are hardwired to the satellite speakers or not.

Thanks, this gives me an idea of what I am looking for.

Hopefully I'll be able to get the proper info from RadioShack.
