Denon3802 question (1 Viewer)

I just got the 3802 in the mail. I want to hook my dvd player into it with the optical hook in. I see it has 3 optical-in's and a coaxial. They dont say which one is the one is for which device. When I plug the dvd player into the #1 optical will it just KNOW its a dvd player??

Anthony: My best advice is to go through the entire setup menu. This will help you to setup all of the necessary parameters, including bass management (speaker size), speaker level balancing, and, what you wanting, digital input assignments. The digital input assignments tell which inputs use which digital connection.

I second Chuck's advice as u have to assign which is which for whatever device.
I now also remember my only gripe about the 3802, only 1 coax in. I really don't like to buy a $25 optical cable when I can use the proverbial "coat hanger" for the coax.
OK, here come the flak.....
