Cheap Trick Fans - Which One? (1 Viewer)

I am ready to pull the trigger on one of these two DVD's, but I can't decide which one: Live In Australia or Silver.
I told my wife I was going to leave the decision up to my HTF family. So, with that in mind, which one would you recommend as a more definitive version of Cheap Trick's history? Which one looks and sounds better? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Having never seen the DVD version of these shows, I can only comment on the programs themselves.
While both are very good, I'd go with "Silver". The running time is quite a bit longer. The band covers much more material. Besides, it's a great show.
When I saw "Live in Australia", it looked a bit dated (even for 1988).
Hope that helps.
BTW - Can you talk my wife into both of them?

Reviews on both over at Amazon are not too good. I used to be a big Cheap Trick fan but can probably live without either of these. Maybe something better will come out in the future. Good luck!

I've got both but I really preferr Australia. The performances just seemed less "rigid" and more "real". I also noted, although I suspect it is was a disc problem that there is a audio synch issue, especially on Surrender. I got a replacement disc but haven't had a chance to check it out.
Anyone else seen this?

Well - I have not seen any of the DVD's BUT ...
I have the 'Australia' on VHS and this was a show from
'80s that was pretty good.
I was at the show for Silver. They played at least one
song from every album as well as special guests (Slash,
Billy Corgan etc, family members) and old band mates
making appearances. As stated above, it is a lengthy
show.
I would, if I was going to choose, opt for the Silver
DVD just for the fact of the length and appearances
of guests, as well as the song selection.
The 'Australia' one is great for a compact show with
most of their greatest hits.
Either way, you will enjoy, IMHO, one of the most
underrated pop bands today. I will be picking up
the Silver DVD soon.
David - I have seen the Music For Hangovers DVD about 2
years ago. It was on a full sound system and the sound
was fantastic. It was a variety of songs from the four
nights they played at The Metro in Chicago. I have no
idea why this was never released yet.

Don't even think about buying Cheap Trick Live in Australia.
Imagine putting your head in a 55 gallon steel drum and cranking up a tinny AM radio with a 2" speaker.
Out of >100 concert dvds in my collection, this one ranks in the bottom 5.
