I'll be using my best friend Paul's PS3 as a Blu-ray player.

OWNED:

1. BLACK HAWK DOWN (D.O.P. 05/08/2007)

Here're the titles I'm planning on purchasing:

CASINO ROYALE
Pirates of the Caribbean - The Curse of the Black Pearl
Pirates of the Caribbean - Dead Man's Chest

I'm actually going PURPLE!:D
And as such, can we have some objective comparisons of films released on both formats for those who're also going purple?

Everything from FOX seems to be higher priced compared to the other Blu-ray discs.

Pirates of the Caribbean: COBP
Layer Cake
The Departed
Planet Earth

Wanted:
Midnight Run
Lost in Translation
Silence of the Lambs
Rio Bravo
Fifth Element
Austin Powers (The original DVDs look really bad now)

Now that I support both formats I am going to avoid standard DVDs if at
all possible. But I really wish one format would win.

Gee I wish they release something, the selection isl ame "GI Jane"??
"arlington Road" "Benchwarmers" ect.
I can't figure out how they come up with some of these titles for Blue Ray.

Fox has done little or nothing, not too mention the even worst job they
are doing with UA films,Paramout has a few good titles mixed in there
The Best Titles seem to come from Warners and Universal, which dosn't
do Blue Ray,

One that I have on pre-order, Final Fantasy, I am waiting anxiously to see if the transfer is pristine and being one that likes the film, I can't wait until it arrives.

Just received my Samsung BD-P1200 from B&H Photo New York and have started my collection with,

SUPERMAN RETURNS
CORPSE BRIDE
BLAZING SADDLES
THE FUGITIVE
and
THE PRODUCERS (Japanese import)

The re-mastered THE FIFTH ELEMENT is on it's way.

The first 4 titles are all region B and play perfectly on my Region A Player.

I just bought the BDP-S301 amd watched my first two titles, which I suspect capture both ends of the spectrum:

The Punisher (Fun movie - ho-hum transfer.)
Casion Royale (Wow. Definitely wow. Definitely 'Oh my GOD! This is SO COOL! WOW!)

I am not much of a Videophile, just a movie fan, but would like more recommendations on those BR disks that do have the 'Wow' factor. Thanks.
