After listening to my Klipsch sc-1 and finding myself wanting more I decided to build my own center channel. I wanted it to have 4 woofers(at least 5.25in)and 1 tweeter(horn loaded), and not be wider than my current tv(32in). So after designing it I purchased 4-Peerless 6.5in woofers and 1 Goldwood silk soft dome tweeter from partsexpress. All for under $50(free shipping due to other purchase). I already had the crossovers, terminal cup, mdf, paint, etc.
So I took it all to work(home builder)with me and built it in a couple of hours. When I was done I took the finished product home and hooked it up using the center speaker level out from my main receiver for the tweeter and using the center preout feeding two channels from a second receiver for the woofers(a total of 300 watts). And after all of that lets just say I wasn't left wanting more. Thanks to all of the DIY's for your inspiration.

Everyone has to start DIY some place but knowing your where you cut corners will help you with future projects.

Both of those links will show you that randomly picking out drivers and pairing them with a generic crossover is just guessing at the outcome.

Thanks Robert. After reading those articles I came to the conclusion that I did the best I could without the expensive hardware and software mentioned. I knew the crossover(s) was going to be the problem from the start. I'm still very much a newb. With that being said are there people who design and make crossovers(for someone like me), or anything else I could do without the hardware and software?

Companies like Madisound will sell you the drivers and a crossover design. But it is even cheaper to use a published design like the ones on the links I gave you. I've running the Dayton II's and a Dayton III as the center. I'm building a matching set of three DIII's right now. I build speakers like you did. Then I built these designs. The difference in quality is night and day!!!
