Bad Brains self-titled album, and its follow-up/remake "Rock For Light" are the best punk albums I've ever heard.

Speaking of punk rock, Steve Jones is now a DJ from noon to 2pm M-F, you can listen to him on:

http://indie1031.fm/main.html

He plays a lot of great music and talks (mostly incoherently) to his friends like Bowie or just talks about the good old days...."yeah the guitarist from 10cc was really cool when I told him I stole his guitars, he didn't even want any money which I didn't have"

"Never mind the Bullocks" is one of the all time greats

the Replacements never were really a punk band. Sorry Ma certainly sounded the part, but is probably their only album that you can say did. but it was pretty obvious that they were only playing at that, kind of like it was expected of them, and that there was a lot more to them, their hearts really lay elsewhere, and their abilities and their reach offered so much more than simple punk by rote.

greatest band since the Stones.

I'd say the best is Clash's London Calling. The first half of their live CD is absolutely great too.

How come nobody mentions X???

Their recordings, especially Wild Gift, are stunning.

The Vibrators: S/T
The Ramones: S/T
Blondie: S/T

Well, EVERYTHING, was Punk for a while.
George Thorogood, Ian Dury, Mink DeVille, Joe Jackson, etc...
Replacements would now be considered alternative, wouldn't they?
By the way, there is a Cd of the raw demo tapes of The Dead Boy's out. Would agree; that's one solid album.

Can't list that many albums, but I have a stack of singles and EPs from:

DOA
The Subhumans
Pointed Sticks
Dishrags

If Oingo Boingo counts, then so should DEVO
Generation X

For me, The Misfits is the very definition of punk. Anything by them.

Two other albums get high rotation from me: X-Ray Spex Germ Free Adolescence and Suicidal Tendencies...really 3 or 4 albums but Lights, Camera, Revolution is probably my favorite.

Gang of Four - Entertainment

And, although it's not punk, but came out of that movement - Metal Box by PiL

I can't believe no one has mentioned the Sex Pistols - Never Mind the Bullocks.

They defined the term "PUNK ROCK" for a lot of people when that came out in, what was it, 1977 or so?

While I am in no way an authority on the matter, I thought there were some pretty decent tunes on that one, so much so that they have been covered more than once or twice.

Uuummmm I mentioned it.
I am listening to Steve Jones, Owen Wilson & Harry Dean Stanton....Steve was mentioning how he was a closet 'Boston' Fan while in the Sex Pistols.
I am totally destroyed.
