Here are the results. Sorry for the formatting. I'll be setting up some follow-up voting in the near future.

A lot of these, I agree with completely. A lot, I disagree with, but fully understand why the voting went the way it did. But some of these, I just plain found baffling. For instance, the best comedy of the 80s by far, Planes, Trains & Automobiles, didn't get a single vote, even for third place (except for my vote), and instead a film I've seen twice without so much as smiling, much less laughing won by a landslide. Oh well, the voters have spoken, and these are the results.

Very cool. This format could work even better with actors/directors since genre considerations wouldn't cloud some of the choices we've made. Just imagine, Hitchcock's 50s films versus Kurosawa's!

Thanks George for your work. I laugh at virtually every line in Raising Arizona and can quote 75% of the dialogue. It's even funnier now that I have kids.

I knew most of my picks had no chance but I'm very glad to see Blackmail as the best 20's mystery. Might be Hitch's best pre-Hollywood film. Really wish it had a better DVD.

I agree with you about this film, Brook. I only wish I had a dvd of it period. I've been trying to get this (the one with Juno & the Paycock) for ages, and can't find it anywhere. :frowning:
