What's the best main theme music in a game for you? I am not talking about the usual background music. I am talking about the main theme.

For me it's No One Lives Forever. I am not really into 60s music, but this one strikes a cord with me somehow. It's so memorable I even hum it myself sometimes.

Baldur's Gate comes in second.

The original Gabriel Knight theme song. I have it on mp3 in the original version AND an amazing dance remix. One of the most amazing game pieces ever.
I'm also partial to the Secret of Monkey Island theme song :D

I really like NOLF also. One of my all time favorites was the soundtrack from Lucas Arts Outlaws. I love that western theme.:emoji_thumbsup:

I was just about to post about how great Outlaws' music was. I still play the game as much to hear the music as anything else :)

I think the opening tune for [rant]GTA3[/rant], although a little on the 'pseudo-jazz lite' side, is pretty classy composition considering the content of much of the game (which I enjoy btw).

i think the opening to metal gear 2. that music was gold.
My friend once suggested that this be named our national anthem. While I'm partial to the Jimi Hendrix "Star Spangled Banner", it's still some damn fine music. The only reason I even boot up the game anymore is to watch the opening credits.

There was a game called Hired Guns. It came out on the Amiga about 10 years ago. The main music was damn cool.

Another great theme would be the Final Fantasy "Crossing the Bridge" theme from FF1 that has been in every game (for some reason, though, it wasn't in FFX). In FF8 and FF9, they redid the song with a full orchestra and it sounded REALLY good.

Some of my faves:
1. Castlevania
2. Zelda: A Link to the Past
3. Maniac Mansion (all the kids had cool music...)
4. NBA Street (Ninja Tune provided the tunes) :emoji_thumbsup::emoji_thumbsup:
5. Super Metroid
6. RBI Baseball (perhaps the most annoying music ever)
