Basic Widescreen TV question (1 Viewer)

I have a 40 inch widescreen. When watching 4:3 material without stretching the picture, what TV size does this equate to (ie, like a 32 inch or 34 inch)? I tried searching under aspect ratio, but as you could imagine there are thousands of threads. Thanks,

You can do the math, or just measure diagonally. Then add a few inches or so, since manufacturer inches are smaller than regular ones...

It would be just about 32"s. My 55" WS becomes a 47"er when set to "normal".
