Am I remembering correct, that someone was making a movie based on this Lovecraft book? Or am I going mad?

I've tried a couple of different searches with no luck, so maybe I am mistaken?

I would appreciate any info.

I believe Guillermo del Toro was looking into it at one point, but he's doing Hellboy now. Here is a link to an older thread on the subject.

It seems like a tough movie to make.
In the book, there is a huge city in Antartica, but we all know from satellite images that there isnt.

He might have to add a plot device, where the movie is still set in 1920, but the city disappears into the ice at the end?
