Much as I like Jude Law, I thought the first one was really mediocre and the second was awful. I'll be checking this one out on HBO Max before I drop any money on it.

Because the film has been divisive. As a longtime Harry Potter fan, I hated it and can't recommend spending money on it. But I also know some other people who really liked it. So if you have HBO Max anyway, watching it there as part of your subscription will allow you to determine if you like it or not for "free" before spending money to own the disc. It is coming to HBO Max on Monday, so that's almost a month before the disc even comes out. You might as well use the opportunity to test drive the film before committing to a purchase.

I watched this tonight in 4K/Dolby Vision/Dolby Atmos streaming on iTunes. I liked it more than the second one, but I haven't found any of the three films in this franchise really compelling. The Dumbledore backstory has been more interesting than anything that Newt has done, but it's all so dour and oppressive.
