Was wondering what the initial reactions to this new release were. Regardless, I will be picking this up after work today.

The album was recorded to analog multitrack.Michael, I'm fairly sure that several of the tracks were recorded live to 2 track analog. The lack of mixing down always results in a cleaner sound, although that is less of an issue with Fagen and Becker at the console than most other bands. Even with a mixing board, their recent albums (IGY and later) seem very clean.
The biggest criticism I've read about it is that it sounds like "more of the same ol' Dan." But, IMO, that's great, because no one else does what they do, so the more the better. It certainly has the Steely Dan sound -- the unique, funky guitar sound, ethereal female harmony vocals, short, punchy verses. That's a good thing.
The 192kHz/24bit is one of the best I have heard on DVD-A to date.Glad to hear that.
Has anyone ever listened to Becker's solo album?
